An "Unacceptable business practices" suspension means Google believes your business may be misleading or scamming customers, so it suspended the whole account without warning. You can't fix it by editing ads. You need to make your store clearly legitimate and transparent, then submit one well-documented appeal through the Contact us link on the suspension notice.
Google Ads Suspended for Unacceptable Business Practices
How do I fix an "Unacceptable business practices" suspension in Google Ads?
What this means
Unacceptable business practices is a subpolicy of Google's Misrepresentation policy. Google prohibits concealing or misstating information about your business, products or services in order to induce users to engage. Its examples include offering products you can't deliver, implying an affiliation with another brand or a government entity, and impersonating other businesses.
Google classes this as an egregious violation. That means the account is suspended upon detection, without a warning period, and Google states that suspended advertisers can't advertise again unless an appeal succeeds. Reinstatement happens only in compelling circumstances, so the quality of your appeal matters a lot.
Many legitimate stores get caught by automated reviews, especially new stores, dropshipping stores and stores in competitive niches. A suspension isn't proof you did something wrong, but you have to show Google why it's mistaken.
Why it happens
Signals that commonly trigger this on e-commerce sites:
- Missing or thin business identity. No physical address, no phone number, a generic contact form only, no "About" page, or a business name that differs from the payments profile.
- Weak or copied store policies. Return, refund and shipping policies that are missing, contradictory, or copied from another store (sometimes with the other store's name still in them).
- Prices that look too good. Very large discounts on branded products, which Google associates with counterfeit or non-delivery scams.
- Brand impersonation. Using a well-known brand's logo, name or styling so your store looks like the official brand site.
- Unrealistic shipping. Promising 2-day delivery on products that ship from overseas in 2–4 weeks.
- Fake trust signals. Invented reviews, fake "as seen on" logos, made-up trust badges or countdown timers that reset.
- Customer complaints. A pattern of chargebacks, negative reviews about non-delivery, or reports to Google.
- Associations with suspended accounts. Shared payment methods, users, domains or business details with accounts previously suspended.
How to fix it
Do these steps before you appeal. A rejected appeal makes the next one harder.
- Confirm the reason. Read the suspension notice in Google Ads and the email to the account owner. Make sure it says Unacceptable business practices and not another policy.
- Publish full business information. Add the legal business name, a physical address, a working phone number and a business email on a Contact page and in the footer. They should match your Google Ads payments profile and, ideally, your business registration.
- Write real policies. Clear refund, return, shipping (with realistic delivery times by region), privacy and terms pages. In Shopify, generate drafts under Settings > Policies, then edit them to reflect how you actually operate. In WooCommerce, create dedicated pages and link them in the footer and checkout.
- Remove anything misleading. Delete fake reviews, unearned badges, false scarcity, misleading "was" prices, and any brand logos you're not authorized to use. If you sell branded goods, state clearly that you're an independent retailer.
- Fix pricing and product claims. Make sure prices are realistic for authentic goods and that product pages describe what customers actually receive.
- Resolve customer issues. Fulfill or refund outstanding orders, answer complaints, and keep proof.
- Gather evidence. Business registration, supplier invoices or authorized reseller documentation, proof of fulfillment (tracking numbers), and screenshots of updated pages.
- Complete advertiser verification if Google asks for it. Some appeals can only be filed after verification.
How to request a review
Select the Contact us link in the suspension banner in your account and complete the appeal form. Keep it factual: what your business sells, who runs it, where you're located, how you fulfill orders, and exactly what you changed on the site. Attach or reference documentation where the form allows.
Rules worth knowing: submit one appeal at a time per suspension; repeated submissions may not be processed and can pause your ability to appeal. Each suspended account needs its own appeal. Google gives you at least six months from the suspension date to appeal, so don't rush in before the site is ready.
Do not open a new Google Ads account to keep advertising. Creating accounts to get around a suspension is a violation of the Circumventing systems policy and can make the situation permanent.
How to prevent it
- Look like a real company from day one, especially before launching ads on a new domain.
- Keep information consistent across your website, Merchant Center, Google Ads payments profile and Google Business Profile.
- Set honest delivery expectations and fulfill on time.
- Never borrow trust signals you haven't earned.
- Monitor reviews and chargebacks; rising complaint rates are an early warning.
